In March 2019 I flew to Brazil and became acquainted with a world that is as mysterious as enchanting, the Pataxo.
They are the only remaining and largest people of indigenous population residing in Bahia; an area also known as “Discovery Coast” where the Portuguese explorers first arrived in 1500. As for many tribes in Brazil already dispossessed of their land, the regime of president Bolsonaro could destroy them as a people. They need powerful global support to face what could be a genocide.
This series aims to be a portal to this beautiful tribe and the fierce spirit of the Pataxo through my visual interpretation.
